Date: 1951 approx.
Built by Adéodat Vasseur, the Chapel was inaugurated on 26 July 1914
under the name ‘Our Lady of the Dunes’. Over time the building has
gradually evolved and its three different periods of construction can
clearly be seen: the first period concerns the part that is plastered
and painted white. The tower was added later in 1925-1926. The chapel
was then handed over to the diocese on 12 October 1938. In 1950, it was
renamed ‘Our Lady of the Pines’; the reason being that one of Adéodat
Vasseur's sons had planted pines and marram grass in the resort and
around the chapel to fix the dunes. The chapel was extended in 1952-1954
(3rd period) with the addition of a new nave (partly in brick) with a
slate roof. The windows, by the artist Abbevillois Boubert, date from
1952 and picture the daily life of the village, its culture and
countryside.
