The département of Seine-Maritime (76) is in the region of Normandy and is bordered by the departments of Somme, Oise and Eure.
It is situated on the northern coast of France at the mouth of the Seine.
It was created in 1790 and until 1955 was known as Seine-Inférieure.
The coat of arms are a combination of the arms of the Dukes of Normandy and the wavy bar representing the Seine river.
